Art Appreciation Arts of the High Renaissance
3/3, 3/10, 3/17 & 3/24
Hosted by: Professor Irene Sfakianos
The Renaissance, beginning in 15th Century Italy, was a cultural “rebirth” after the long medieval years. We see artists acknowledging artistic and scientific contributions from Ancient Rome and Greece. We will follow in the tracks of all the major players. On March 3rd and 10th we will study the contributions of the Medici Family in Florence. Their financial and political assistance basically launched the entire Renaissance. On March 17th and 24th we will study the lives and contributions of two of the most brilliant artists of all time: Michelangelo Buonarotti and Leonardo Da Vinci.
