11/7 Mary Martin – From Annie Get Your Gun to Peter Pan, Mary Martin was an icon of Broadway and Television music. She went from ingenue soprano to pixie to gravelly wife, in roles memorable in our lifetimes, originating roles in South Pacific and The Sound of Music.

11/14 Angela Lansbury – One of the most well-known and well-rounded performers of the 20th Century, she commanded the Broadway and London stages, did leading roles in film and appeared in leading and character roles in television. At the time of her recent passing, she was one of the last remaining stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood.

11/21 Alice Faye – Perhaps most famous for introducing the song “You’ll Never Know,” Alice Faye starred in the 1938 film “Alexander’s Ragtime Band.” She was, for years one of the top-ten draws for films in Hollywood. Although she was married for a time to singer Tony Martin, her marriage to Phil Harris lasted over 50 years, and was one of the most successful in Hollywood, after her successful film career, she and Phil Harris worked both radio and television together, successfully for two decades.

11/28 Cab Calloway – Associated with Harlem and Swing, Calloway’s career spanned 65 years starting from jazz/vaudeville to big-bands and movies. He is remembered for “Minnie the Moocher” and “Hi Dee Ho!,” but he is also important for introducing audiences to members of his band such as Dizzy Gillespie, Ben Webster and Cozy Cole.
