One of the most influential Musical Theater composers in American history, Stephen Sondheim began his career writing lyrics for composers like Jule Styne and Leonard Bernstein. He then continued his own famous career with musicals such as A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, A Little Night Music, Passion and Into The Woods (to name a few). His mentor was Oscar Hammerstein, and his legacy is important to modern Broadway.
