This film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning play by August Wilson is set in Pittsburgh during the 1930s. The quiet of Bernice’s household is disturbed when her brother Boy Willie arrives unexpectedly from down home in Mississippi. Soon the siblings begin a quarrel over the family heirloom, a piano carved with African style sculptures, and their confrontation leads them to confront the ghosts of the family’s past.
