6/1 Southeast Asia in the News: We will examine some of the major events taking place in Southeast Asia. Energy, population issues, trade, and the environment are some of our focal points.

6/8 Age of Exploration Part 1–We will investigate the causes and events of the European Age of Exploration beginning with the Portuguese and the quest to round Africa and reach the fabled lands of India and Southeast Asia in the 15th and 16th centuries.

6/22 Age of Exploration Part 2 — We will investigate the causes and events of the European Age of Exploration with a focus on the Spanish expeditions in search of the Indies, but accidentally reaching a new world–the Americas in the 15th and 16th centuries

6/29 Age of Exploration Part 3–We will investigate the causes and events of the European Age of Exploration with a focus on the question to find mythical lands in the Southern Hemisphere and transoceanic shortcuts to Asia in the 16th through 18th centuries.
