Tuesday – Lecture Series: Bizarre Foods from Around the World – This 1-part
12/5, & 12/18 @ 11:00AM/CH
Instructor: Gary Scarpello
12/5 presentation presents the strangest foods people actually eat! Some pretty awful looking culinary delights. Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately we won’t get the chance to taste these “delicacies”.
12/19 Absurd Laws in America – This one part presentation looks into the many weird, strange, absurd and downright funny laws across the United States. We’ll look at driving laws like in Alaska, where it’s illegal to drive while your dog is tethered to your car. Or Illinois where it’s illegal to drive without a steering wheel. There are just general weird laws like in Philadelphia where you can’t put pretzels in bags. In Cresskil, NJ all cats must wear three bells to warn birds of their whereabouts. Marriage laws have their quirts too. Florida prohibits unmarried women from parachuting on Sunday or she shall risk arrest, fine, and/or jailing. In Kentucky, no woman can marry the same man more than three times. Weird food laws are no exception. In Iowa ice cream trucks have been outlawed since 1967. What is really weird is that legislatures, paid by the taxpayer, took valuable time to pass these laws!
