10/5 An African Adventure: The Big Five Animals Lions, tigers and bears, Oh My!
Actually, the Big Five animals of Africa are the lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and Cape buffalo. The term was coined by big game hunters and refers to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot. Big-game hunting is not as much of a threat to these gentle (and not so gentle) giants as in previous years. Now poaching and the threat to habitat have taken over as the major challenges these species encounter. Three of the five Big Five are now on the endangered or nearly endangered list of land mammals.
We will spend time admiring the beauty and strength of these magnificent creatures while learning a little about their current conservation status.
Put on your sunscreen, we are heading to Aruba! Aruba is known as ‘One Happy Island’ for a reason. Join me as we also explore the natural beauty along the white sandy beaches and the harsh desert landscapes which make up this top island destination.
Explore the color, character, and charisma of Cuba. Pat Traveled to Cuba in 2015 just as the United State relaxed travel restrictions to the country. She wanted to capture Havana and surrounding areas before major changes to the infrastructure and commercialization set in. Shortly after Pat visited Cuba, cruise ships were invited back and hotels and statues began popping up, especially in Havana. You will see what 50 years of neglect can do to a country. This is not a political statement, but rather a documentary of how the warm and friendly people of Cuba have adapted to their surroundings.
