We will watch the documentary “KIDS FOR CASH” . This film takes place in Luzerne County, PA. The Juvenile Law Center in Philadelphia investigated irregularities in Luzerne County’s juvenile court prompted by a frantic call from an alarmed parent whose child was sent to a private prison for youth for a minor offense. The children lacked any counsel. 2500 juveniles were involved. Two judges were receiving “kickbacks” and were eventually brought to justice. It was the largest judicial corruption scandal in US history. The film was directed by Robert May, who won an Oscar for “The Fog of War”. The film is 95 minutes. We’ll watch it in two sessions.
