“I truly love the staff, they’re like family to me. They are incredibly kind, attentive, and always willing to help.”
Betty Lou Ormsby moved to Lions Gate about 18 months ago. It was a thoughtful decision guided by experience, research, and trust, and it has turned out to be exactly the right choice.
Betty Lou grew up in North Jersey and Point Pleasant before raising her family in Marlton, New Jersey. When she began exploring her next chapter, Lions Gate quickly rose to the top of her list. She already had friends living here who spoke so highly of the community, and her experience with senior living through her parents gave her a clear perspective on what matters most. After her daughter did extensive research and confidently called Lions Gate “the best place to be” in the area, Betty Lou knew she had found the right place to call home.
One of the things she appreciates most about Lions Gate is the wide range of activities available to residents. “The selection is excellent,” she said, noting how important it is for her to stay both mentally and physically active. Painting is her favorite activity, offering her a creative outlet and a sense of accomplishment. But her days don’t stop there. She also goes to the gym, takes walks, dances at happy hours, and enjoys being social with friends throughout the community.
In addition to Lions Gate’s many programs, Betty Lou keeps herself busy with what she affectionately calls her “little projects,” including making blankets for her grandson and granddaughter. These personal pursuits, combined with community activities, help her maintain a sense of purpose and routine, something Lions Gate encourages and supports.
Dining is another highlight of Betty Lou’s day. Meals aren’t just about the food; they’re about connection. “There are always people to have lunch or dinner with,” she shared. At Lions Gate, the dining room has become a place where friendships are strengthened, stories are told, and laughter is always on the menu.
Living in the Assisted Living Neighborhood has allowed Betty Lou to get to know the staff particularly well, and those relationships mean everything to her. “I truly love the staff. They’re like family to me. They are incredibly kind, attentive, and always willing to help.”
That warmth goes both ways. According to Jennifer Quinn, Director of Activities for Assisted Living and Memory Care, Betty Lou brings joy and energy to the community. “Betty Lou has a beautiful energy about her,” Jennifer said. “She enjoys getting involved, loves the music programs, and her joyful spirit brightens the day for both residents and staff.”
With a vibrant calendar of activities, responsive care, and staff who treat residents like family, Lions Gate continues to be a community where people can recover, reconnect, and thrive at every stage of life.
