“I don’t have to worry about the little things anymore…”
Daniel Sternberg lives a life as vibrant and engaging as ever, right here at Lions Gate. A former Navy Captain with a sharp wit, a love of documentaries, a passion for trolleys, and a deep appreciation for Russian music, Daniel brings a unique energy to our community.
His son, Greg, played an important role in choosing Lions Gate, and Daniel couldn’t be happier with the decision. “I love that I don’t have to worry about the day-to-day things here,” he shared. “Everything is taken care of.” For Greg, it was the perfect fit – Lions Gate offers the services Daniel needs, the lifestyle he wants, and it’s close to both his grandchildren in Mount Laurel and his sister in Titusville.
Daniel moved to Lions Gate four years ago. While he had some physical challenges later in life, Daniel found new purpose and community when he moved here.
As president of the Residents’ Council, Daniel is deeply involved in community life. Whether he’s welcoming new residents or offering thoughtful ideas to keep Lions Gate thriving, his leadership is well known. Affectionately called “Dan the man with a plan,” he leads a music program called Dan’s Choice every other Monday, is a proud member of the Men’s Club, and enjoys playing bingo.
Social life is a highlight for Daniel. He enjoys Friday night pizza and soda with his two closest friends – Mo and Jules – even calling themselves the “Three Musketeers.” In a delightful twist of fate, he recently discovered that one of his neighbors is actually a first cousin.
Daniel speaks highly of the staff at Lions Gate. “They’re friendly and always eager to help,” he said. He made a special point of complimenting his primary aide, Fawcett, who, he says, takes excellent care of him and even reminded him to shave before this interview.
At Lions Gate, we’re committed to helping residents age in place while enjoying every day to the fullest. Daniel captures that spirit beautifully: “I get to live my life on my own terms.”
