Fridays – Opera: Manon Lescaut by Puccini in January

The opera Manon (by Massenet) and Manon Lescaut (by Puccini) are both based on the same story, where a young woman, Manon, is torn between her love for the Chevalier des Grieux and her desire for a life of luxury and wealth. In both versions, des Grieux instantly falls in love with the innocent Manon, and they elope in Paris. However, Manon is persuaded to abandon him for a wealthy nobleman, leading to a cycle of regret, attempts at reconciliation, and ultimately, tragedy.
