“At Lions Gate, there’s something for everyone’s tastes and interests. We have so much variety in the activities, classes, and programs offered. I love living here!”

When Keesie Spector decided to move to Lions Gate six years ago, she was already familiar with the community, its programming, culture, and strong Jewish foundation. She knew she had found her new home.

Since she lived in the area for nearly two decades, Keesie was no stranger to Lions Gate. However, it was her sister, Alice Bronstein, who made the decision easy. Alice had been a resident for several years, and Keesie visited her often, spending weekends here and gaining firsthand experience of daily life. When she moved in, her sister helped make the transition seamless. “I had somebody to eat with, somebody to do things with. It helped a lot.”

Keesie also had an eye on the future. “Lions Gate offered me everything I could want and then some,” she said. “It really has it all.” That combination of independence and peace of mind is one of Lions Gate’s hallmarks, and one Keesie appreciates every day.

“There’s something for everybody,” she said. “There’s a lot of variety in the activities, and the programs are excellent.” Keesie particularly enjoys yoga, as well as lectures and performances.

For Keesie, the resident-led discussion group is another highlight. “We talk about current events, and the people who attend are very knowledgeable and intelligent. It’s a very stimulating group.”

Outside of scheduled programs, Keesie enjoys playing mahjong, canasta, and Rummikub, as well as spending time outdoors with friends when the weather is nice. She especially values the social aspect of daily life.

“Socially, it’s the best place you could be. There are always people around, and everyone is very friendly.” That sense of community is central to what makes Lions Gate special.

When Keesie first moved in, she was welcomed by a member of the Welcoming Committee, an experience that stayed with her. She recalled, “She sat with me, asked what I liked to do, and helped me get started.” Now, a few years later, Keesie serves as chairperson of the Welcoming Committee, helping new residents feel comfortable, connected, and supported.

Her experience with the staff has been equally positive. “The staff is great. Maintenance, housekeeping, dining, they’re all very kind.”

For Keesie, it all comes together in a way that’s both meaningful and reassuring. “It’s the whole picture,” she said. “It’s very comforting.” And for Keesie Spector, that balance of independence and opportunity continues to make Lions Gate exactly the right place to call home.
