Sandy Kushner has spent a lifetime lifting others up, and retirement hasn’t slowed her down one bit. As the recipient of this year’s prestigious Sis Levy Award, Sandy continues to make a meaningful impact at both Lions Gate and Jewish Senior Housing and Healthcare Service (JSHHS). She currently serves on the Friends Committee and is the Auction Chair for the highly anticipated Tacos & Tequila 2025 event. In her role as Chair, Sandy is the go-to person for all auction donations, working behind the scenes to ensure the fundraiser’s success and support the community she loves.
Sandy’s journey with Lions Gate began in the role of Executive Assistant to the CEO, a position she held for eight years. Before joining Lions Gate, Sandy pursued a career in administration in the medical field, where she worked with amputees in orthotics and prosthetics. Her professional life has always centered around helping others, a value deeply rooted in her upbringing and personal history, and Lions Gate gave her a new opportunity to continue that mission.
Though recently retired from her role at Lions Gate, Sandy’s commitment to service has remained as strong as ever. She continues to devote her time and energy to supporting the organization’s fundraising and community initiatives, embodying the selfless spirit that defines the Sis Levy Award.
Sandy has called Voorhees home for more than 35 years, where she and her husband, Andy, have shared 47 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised two children, Alix and Josh, and are now proud grandparents to Brinley, Colton, Theo, and Eloise. Sandy’s devotion to helping others is inspired by her father, Solomon, a Holocaust survivor who endured two years in Auschwitz before liberation. Solomon always said that helping others helped him survive — and Sandy has spent her life carrying that legacy forward.
