Thursdays – James Bond Film Music

10/10 & 10/31 @ 2:00 PM/CH

Instructor: Ira Miller

10/10 Part Four: Covering Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, A View to a Kill, and Living Day Lights.   During this period, (1979 – 1987) Roger Moore will retire from his role as James Bond, and there will be no mention of the evil organization Spectre because the official production company, Eon Films, will not have the right to include Spectre in the James Bond films.   More importantly, Living Daylights will be the last Bond film scored by John Barry, leaving a legacy that all future James Bond composers will try to emulate.

10/31 Conclusion: – “The James Bond Years After John Barry.”  The films covered will include A License to Kill, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, the World is Not Enough and Die Another Day. Three different composers would create the scores during this period (1989 – 2002), and by the time we get to Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), composer David Arnold is crowned as John Barry’s true successor.
