John Williams and the Music of Star Wars – By the time John Williams met for lunch with George Lucas, Williams was already a well-established composer of music for film based on his work with Steven Spielberg on the Oscar winning blockbuster “Jaws.” That meeting led to the work of John Williams on one of the most successful film franchises in movie history, the nine “episodes” of Star Wars. Kicking off the series on Music of the Great Film Franchises, Ira Miller will look at how John Williams’ music for Star Wars created the beginning of the modern film score and how the music of German Romanticism influenced how John Williams would score those nine Star Wars episodes.
