Lions Gate named Top 5 in the State of NJ on Newsweek’s America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024 List

The Lions Gate Administration announces their noteworthy Newsweek Ranking. From l. to r. Cristina Palella, Healthcare Administrator, Meredith Becker, COO, Dave Thompson, CEO, and Tina Carr, Director of Nursing.

Newsweek has named Lions Gate in the Top 5 in the State of NJ on its list of America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024 list.

“We are so proud to receive this recognition,” said Dave Thompson, Lions Gate CEO.  “We have spent 16 years building a reputation as the highest quality senior living community in South Jersey.  I would like to thank every one of our team members for their hard work and dedication to providing our residents the best quality of life!  I would also like to thank Newsweek for this recognition, the Board of Trustees for their stewardship, and our Administration team for their leadership.  We all work together as a cohesive team so that our residents receive the care and support they expect and deserve.”

America’s Best Nursing Homes 2024 highlights the nation’s top nursing homes based on performance data, recommendations from medical professionals, management of the current Covid-19 situation, resident satisfaction, and accreditations from The Joint Commission and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.  Nursing homes in the 25 states with the highest number of facilities were included in the study.

This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.  “Finding the right facility is not just about numbers,” said Nancy Cooper, Newsweek Global Editor in Chief.  “It’s about ensuring your family member receives the care and attention they deserve.  To support families as they consider their options, Newsweek has created our third annual ranking of America’s Best Nursing Homes.”

For the first time, this ranking includes nursing homes with 100-149 beds.  Lions Gate is ranked #5 on the list of Nursing Homes in New Jersey with 100-149 beds.  “We are the only nursing home in the Top 5 that is part of a Continuing Care Retirement Community,” noted Meredith Becker, Lions Gate COO.  “As a CCRC, we have the full continuum of care on our campus — Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Short-Term Rehabilitation, and Long-Term Care. Our goal is to provide the very best care for all our seniors, and we invest heavily in the community, quality staffing, and robust programming.”

There’s so much that’s noteworthy about Lions Gate’s Short-Term Rehab.  “Our patient-centered care is exceptional,” said Cristina Palella, Lions Gate Healthcare Administrator.  “Our Care Team transitions a patient from hospital stay to home by providing the therapies and medical treatments necessary to rebuild strength and stamina.  Our dedicated staff provides indispensable emotional support to reduce stress and worry.  These two components get patients back on their feet faster.  Our 5-Star CMS rating speaks to our outstanding track record of positive patient outcomes, and now this Newsweek ranking further confirms that our Rehab unit is doing great work.”

Lions Gate’s Long-Term Care community sets the bar high for quality of care.  “We have partnered with the same medical group of gerontologists for over 10 years,” said Tina Carr, Lions Gate Director of Nursing, “and that longevity directly contributes to the quality of care.  We’ve also curated a Care Team with unique certifications — we have a respiratory therapist, a therapist certified in lymphedema treatment, and a nurse certified in wound care, among others.  Our community is the only one in South Jersey to embrace Jewish values and traditions, and that provides meaning and comfort to so many of our residents.  Our Long-Term Care residents genuinely thrive here.”

Long-Term Care resident Jules Gold couldn’t agree more.  “I feel blessed to be here,” said Jules.  “I had a bad fall, went to the hospital, and was transferred to Lions Gate Rehab.  Physical Therapy really helped build my strength.  When I was strong enough to leave Rehab, I moved into Long-Term Care.  Everyone is very kind, respectful, and patient.  I honestly love it here.”
