Safe Haven Memory Care Neighborhood

Memory Care is for those who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia and need specialized care and support. Memory Care is designed to provide a structured environment with set routines to maximize engagement, decrease anxiety and increase comfort for people with memory loss. The Lions Gate Safe Haven Memory Care Neighborhood has been newly expanded to now feature 21 private resident apartments each with its own private bath.

A CARING Care Team

When your loved one resides in a tight-knit memory community like Safe Haven where there are less than 30 apartments, that translates into a better continuity of care. With 24-hour on-site nursing and assistance with daily living, our Memory Care neighborhood is specifically designed to be a safe and nurturing environment. The care team here builds long-term relationships with residents, and that continuity of care gives families so much reassurance. They know exactly who to call when they have questions or concerns, and they sleep well at night knowing that the care team treats their loved one like family. The trust and affection that builds between a family and the Safe Haven Care team is not something you find in every memory care community. Many on the Safe Haven care team choose to invest their entire career here because they feel they make a valuable contribution and connection each day.

Extensive Medical Resources on Site

While those with memory loss require guidance and structure in activities of daily living as well as help with cognitive and social engagement, caregivers can’t overlook the need for medical resources. While not all memory care communities have medical resources on site, Lions Gate has a robust slate of medical professionals available on campus.

Lions Gate is a Life Plan Community. That means the full continuum of care is available to all residents, including our memory care residents. Our Safe Haven care team includes a doctor, nurses, and aides. All Lions Gate residents have access to a full slate of doctors with office hours, including a gerontologist, dentist, psychiatrist, podiatrist, dermatologist, optometrist, and audiologist. If they need any type of rehabilitative therapy, our rehabilitative care team addresses all physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and respiratory therapy needs. Lions Gate also has a social worker on staff, and families can meet with her at any time to discuss the care their loved one receives here. We also hold vaccination clinics on site, administering Covid, flu, RSV, pneumonia, and shingles vaccines. Not many memory care communities have such an extensive medical team at their disposal.

Engaging Activities and Jewish Values

For individuals with memory loss, an important part of a personalized care plan focuses on active social and cognitive engagement. Cognitively appropriate activities play an enormous role in enhancing the quality of life for Safe Haven residents. We have a full calendar of activities that keep our memory care residents socializing and entertained. We also have a Cantor on staff that conducts weekly religious services as well as teaches a weekly “Jewish Wisdom” class. And our Safe Haven neighborhood celebrates all the Jewish holidays. That cultural connection brings many of our residents a sense of comfort and belonging.
