Through slides and lively discussion will explore how the onset of agriculture in a few specific places in the world led to the rise of human civilization and why these locations had just the right conditions for societal and technological advances to take off. Locations to be examined are Mesopotamia, China, the Americas, Egypt, and the Indus Valley.
