Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, most famous for writing the book “Frankenstein,” was one of the most important female activists for women’s rights – but during the age of the French Revolution and of Napoleon. Her passionate advocacy of educational and social equality for women was outlined by her beliefs in “A Vindication of the Rights of Woman” (1792), considered a classic of feminism.
