3/14 The Music of Cuba. With influences from West Africa and Spain, the music of Cuba may be the music important regional music since the introduction of technology. Since many of the Latin dances came from Cuba, we will spend part of the session looking at and listening to the music of the dance art form. We will also spend some time listening to the different types of music imported from Cuba into the United States during the 1950s and 1960s.
3/28 Popular Music of the United States, starting with a look at the music of Vaudeville, Tin Pan Alley, and Broadway.
